#1: 206 GTI 180 Buying Guide Author: jayz206gti, Location: Tamworth PostPosted: Wed Sep 28, 2011 6:27 pm

Hey guys, will be shopping for my 180 in the next few weeks so thought id ask past and present owners for any common faults or tell tale signs to watch out for whilst fishing? Ideally id like a red one but as they seem to be the rarest colour i will most likely settle for black or blue. Silver is my least favorite colour but i will sway towards the best deal for the money. My budget is 2400-2500 at a push. Thanks for any help.

I'm sure I've heard there is a clutch issue with 180's around a certain milage Mark. So I would suggest looking at paperwork in higher milage ones to see if it has been changed at some point.

I now u said u didn't want silver but this car has had a lot of money spent on it and was well looked after by me.

www.206info.co.uk/Foru...37559.html

Just before I sold it 6 months ago.

New clutch/flywheel,
Cambelt/waterpump,
Full service history,
New vvt sensor.

Powerflow cat back
Rs tuning remap

I owned it for about 4 years never broke down once it past every not first time with no advisories and at that price it's a bargain.

Cheers for the comments guys. Im trying not to window shop at the moment as i wont have the cash for 2-3 weeks and dont wanna get my hopes up only for someone else to swoop in. As soon as the cash is in my account i will strike as the only other car i was thinking of (a clio 172) is off the cards now. Hate the interiors on them.

Mel is selling her black 180.

Although it does need abit of TLC your budget would cover the car and the TLC Wink

Due to having a lightened flywheel you can get clutch judder i believe

The exhaust rust alot, especially the back box.

Ive had 3 OEM centre sections on mine,
when i had it the baffle had gone, replaced for free due to warranty
Then just insidde the warranty that one (only 8 months old) began to below at middle silencer connection
Number 3 seems ok, but technically this is the cars 4th!

Good news guys, finally after a lengthy delay my cheques finally came through the other day and i marched straight down to the bank. Hoping it clears by Monday so i can go shopping! On a slightly negative note frustratingly the 180 numbers near my area (West Midands) seem to be a bit sparse. My budget is still the same £2350-400 maximum. Wish me luck and if anyone knows of any knocking about let me know.

The clutch doesn't become a problem at certain mileages. It's down to how the car is used by the driver. Some have problems, others don't - like any car.
