ok thanks, ill look at replacing the head unit then maybe speakers at a later date, which makes are worth considering then. Are pioneer any good, also the phone is a htc desire if it helps.

You can get sound deadening stuff from vibe or the popular choice dynamat. It reduces horrible vibrations and then allows a better bass and sound quality

Ah ok thanks, ill replace the head unit first, i could try and find out teh model number of a friends radio he connects his htc phone to(but might be a little as it can be like extracting teeth at times)

I bought a 2nd hand Alpine for £100 of off ebay. It's got full speed ipod controller & usb etc. It's just sat on a shelf in my garage at the mo has i've just removed it from the car i'm selling & haven't got round to put it in my other car yet!

In 1 of my old cars i had a £150 sony xplod head unit, 6 disc mp3 xplod changer, 2x 220watt 6x9 xplod, 2x 3 way 220w xplod speakers, 2x 3 way 160w xplod speakers, 2x xplod tweaters, 2x xplod crossovers & a 4 channel 600w xplod amp!

that was in my 4.0 wrangler sahara! the things are built like tanks so nothing rattles etc when the music is was on high!
