#1: 206 gti 180 air con leak Author: ramigojag, Location: worcestershirePosted: Fri Sep 30, 2011 10:02 am ---- I believe this is a common problem but couldnt find anything in a search.
I had my air con regassed today and its all leaked out got it up on the ramp today at work and have seen one of the pipes has rubbed smooth against another and can only assume there is a pin p***k hole in it.
Has anyone developed a fix for this or is the only way a new pipe?

No pressure check or vacuum check carried out then before the system was recharged?

There must of been some force behind that pipe to stop the pressure coming out ?

obviously because that same pipe is the one thats been rubbing away and has managed to wear right through the metal so is obviously some pressure im guessing just from poor build quality ive heard its a common problem with the 180s

Well I wouldn't assume that is the source of the leak, could be a lot of work for nothing
A vacuum check may be fine but then it's totally different when the system is working and the pressure goes positive and certain parts are up to much higher temperatures. Metal expands and leaks show up
I'd identify where the leak actually is before attempting any work

When reggassing, ask mechanic to add uv dye into your system. If there is any leakeage, the uv dye in your air-con system should indentify whre's the leakeage is.
PS: I have same problem where there are two pipes rubbed together. I fix it by tie up 2 thick cable tie into each pipes at the contacting point to prevent 2 pipes from rubbed into each other.
