Just registered so apologies for getting right to the point.
I bought a 206 2 days ago with a gear oil leak quite cheap.
I thought it would be a simple case of changing the oil seal but it now turns out the passenger driveshaft seams too long.
The previous owner said he replaced the gearbox last week with a 1.4s gearbox however the driveshafts according to my local parts and Peugeot are the same?
Sliding the driveshaft into the n/s leaves it about 1/2 inch out and obviously means no seal against the gear oil seal. Driveshafts across the 206 range seam to be the same part number so any advice is much welcomed!

Mines a 1.4 8v, apparently the new box also came from a 1.4 8v, but the driveshaft on mine the spline seams too long, seams to be stopping on a pin or something in the box, just the passenger side though, drivers is fine

Do you think there might be a problem with the gearbox then? There seams to be a pin or something stopping the driveshaft going right the way in?

We used a hammer but it just didnt want to go in, looking in the hole there seams to be a pin or something so ordered the driveshaft that was in there before,

Well we went from a 1.4 8v gearbox to another 1.4 8v gearbox and in the process the driveshaft on the passenger side just will not fit, had it at my mates garage so would assume if there was a certain way of fitting it he would have known

Yeah I understand, I will get some photos,
The car was running fine, had a 1.4 8v gearbox but the box went, so got a replacement gearbox from a 1.4 8v. Fitted it, drivers driveshaft went in find but the passenger one doesn't go right in.
The car drives, but the shaft doesn't go in far enough to make the oil seal so I loose gear oil. There seams to be that pin stopping the driveshaft going right in yet the old gearbox didnt have this :/
