As above unless you know what your doing I would say leave well alone and take to someone who knows what there doing, you could end up doing more harm than good.

better to check the bottom too just in case the snapped valve drops.....

80K miles or 5 yr for belt.

Well, a nice 2nd hand engine might be better value if too much damage been done when the belt snapped.

I do think that just replacing the engine could work out at a similar price...

Plus you'd need to get the timing belt changed on that too if it hadn't been done

Not your problem or wallet paying for it when there belt snaps Wink

Had to replace a timing belt on a Linde H20 forklift the other week, VW BEF engine ( 2 litre 4 pot SOHC )

Forklift had done 310 hours from new but as it had hit the 3 year time limit it was time for a new timing belt kit to be fitted on.

Ok well here's the update. Timing belt didn't snap!!! Apparently the oil pump packed in and the whole lot went Pete tong. So not my fault! Got a new engine so now need someone to change old for new?? Anyone?? Lol
