right passenger drive shaft is goin possible gearbox probably clutch starter motor and a strange knocking from the cam belt .... is it cheaper to just drop the gti lump in and how much work is involved

Is the car left or right hand drive? Is that right as you sit in the drivers seat or as you stand in front of the car looking at it? Or has the car got 2 drive shafts each side? I never knew knowing your left from your right was so complicated till today.

Author: greg.mitchell350, Location: Milton KeynesPosted: Sat Oct 08, 2011 6:10 am ---- is it cheaper than what!? fixing all the possible faults? depends what u have. if you dont have a gti at present there will be no way it is cheaper, completely different to the 1.6, 1.4 and 1.1 engine. the inlet sits at the front on the gti unlike the other engines. would require new subframe, exhaust, coolant reservoir, radiator, gearbox, ecu, wiring loom, anti roll bar, power steering rack and pipes. and that is just the stuff i can think about of the top of my head!
