Is the car left or right hand drive? Is that right as you sit in the drivers seat or as you stand in front of the car looking at it? Or has the car got 2 drive shafts each side? I never knew knowing your left from your right was so complicated till today.

is it cheaper than what!? fixing all the possible faults? depends what u have. if you dont have a gti at present there will be no way it is cheaper, completely different to the 1.6, 1.4 and 1.1 engine. the inlet sits at the front on the gti unlike the other engines. would require new subframe, exhaust, coolant reservoir, radiator, gearbox, ecu, wiring loom, anti roll bar, power steering rack and pipes. and that is just the stuff i can think about of the top of my head!

wll i would of thought the large list of required items along with the labour rate would of be self explanitary and a conversion would be a lot more expensive. but you still havnt mentioned what model it is at the minute

How come the messages need to be relayed via you, can't he join the forum and post in the normal way? Is "the friend" really you, but you're too embarrased to admit it?

You would be better replacing the engine/gearbox with the same size. Less cost and Less hassle
