Hi,

A mate has a 206cc Allure 1600cc , which is showing Oil pressure insufficient when the car is started also the mpg is around 30ish, not sure if this is linked.

When the Oil pressure insufficient is displayed you also get the oil light on the dash also the STOP flashes & you get the warning bleeps.

After you rev the car to 2000 rpm & over all the dash is back to normal.

When driving the car all seems to be ok.

Any ideas on what it might be.

Yes the oil dip stick is showing full.

He has not had the car long, & had a cambelt change & full service about 2/3 months ago.

That's what I thought it might be, but I have no idea were it would be in the engine or how we would check it if it was found.

Non genuine oil filter can also cause this.

Peugeot / Citroen OR Purflux oil filter only!

Ok just looked, & the oil filter is a Purflux.

No oil leaks can be seen.

The oil that he says he used was Wilkinson's Laughing wilko semi synthetic 15w/40 which he said on the bottle is good for most cars. Shocked

He didn't have a manual when he brought the car.

I did laugh when he told me Laughing

But he had the problem before filling up the oil so it's not the cause of the problem.

different grade of oil rarely cause oil pressure problem in 206.

could be bockage in oil pump? or just a fault sensor really :s

Sure the dip stick, filter, oil cap are on secure?

Get the engine flushed, change to a specified oil and change the filter. Then see if the fault clears. For the cost of the oil and filter its a good first test Wink

Yep he is going to get oil change in next couple of days. Then will have to see if that helps.

But it was showing the fault before the oil was put in.

ok i assumed that since you mentioned about a service a couple of months ago it had only happened since then. if its a pre-occuring fault it might be worth flushing the engine as 'macj' said and trying the specific grade of oil but it might not be the fault. unless ofcourse the previous oil was really bad and has slightly blocked the oil pump, but if this is the case an engine flush should help this
