Cambelt due?
-> 206 Problems

Good afternoon everyone,

Hope you're all well. I was looking through my cars service history and it has not had a cambelt done. It is a late 2005 car with a 1.4 16v petrol engine and 35,000 miles (low I know lol) and was wondering when the cambelt is due for replacement.

Thank you

Roughly 60,000 to say 80,000 ish depending on if you do short or long journeys or every 5 years or something along those lines iirc.

I do mainly start stop and short journeys which obviously puts more stress on the cambelt, so I will probably change it soon. Thank you Smile

Now on another site I read this:
2.0 petrol is 80k miles or 8 years whichever comes first
1.6 petrol is 100k miles or 10 years whichever comes first

Then some people say 40k is time to change,then others say 60k
So who knows what the definitive answer is
In other words what do Peugeot recommend??

Yes water pump to may aswell do it in one go, as for above I would never leave a 206's cambelt for 10 years nore 100k Laughing

Better to replace a cambelt than an engine.

Having had one go, I'd recommend that as a maximum!
