some useful advice there mate, have already decided that I wouldn't get a loan and only use the money I can save and get from selling the ph1 gti, I know with many jap cars, you need alot more money than what I could probably get to afford a fun fast jap, I haven't set my heart on a 180 but can see it as being the most affordable without having that drive slow feeling all the time

probably be looking at between £2.5 and £3k as I know I won't get much for my 206

as D4NTP says, it really depends what you want the car for, if you want a car to have fun in, dont mind paying high fuel bills, and large repair bills, then go german or jap, however if you want something that like me you can work on you know haw to get teh most out of it, etc then go with a car you know.
im not trying to influence you eiter way but you seem to enjoy your 206 GTi, have you considered a 207....

matty, hmmm, i looked into the HDI GT 207 and found it to only be atad more expensive then the 206, im sure the GTi would be alot more and is also turbo'd being a 1.6 16v twin cam, with a twin scroll turbo it puts out about 200bhp.
as i said previousl;y you have to work out what you want it for and only then will you know what sort of car you want. the way i look at my decision on car is :
1, what will its main useage be,
2, what is the minium economy i want,
3, what trim level is the minium i want,
4, what tax group is it in,
5, what is the insurance for a year,
6, how many seats do i need,
those arnt in any peticular order. but are the main things i consider as i do alot of driving with friends, a 2 seater is out (otherwise id get a renault wind, LMAO), i would get a normal GTi but as i cover close to 200 - 250 (all town driving) a week, i need the econemy of a diesel, the the compremise is the HDi GTi, as it has the GTi spec level but is a diesel.
some other cars for you to look at a seat leon cupra r first gen, there getting quite cheap now, or even the ibiza cupra. both quility cars. abit out there is the MG ZR, i test drove one when it first came out, and liked it, it already has a hugh bodykit from std, 17" alloys, all the toys. dont let he fact its an MG stop you, MG are still in business, it was rover that collapsed. they got to be getting cheaper now due to everybody jumping ship.

207 gti is 175 bhp, its a co developed engine with bmw for the mini.
mg were part of rover. when rover went bust mg did too. the whole rover 'group' was bought by the chinese who chose to start building the tf again but not any of the other models. a seperate chinese company bought the tooling for the cars and renamed them roewe's. neither company makes spares for the old rover/honda cars so your stuck with patent parts or scrapyards. i like the mg's but they are terrible cars spec wise.
