#1: Car Turning Into A Nightmare :( Author: Skullion, Location: DundeePosted: Sun Oct 23, 2011 4:35 pm ---- After selling my car for a Peugeot 206, I'm coming across a list of problems which I thouht I'd share on here and if anyone has any information on, that would be great.
Firstly, before sticking on my winter tyres I thought i'd replace both front brake disc's and pads as they have seen better days but when arriving to the Auto Parts Department I cant locate NR Number to find the correct parts for the car and wondered do I telephone Peugeot to find out this number?
2001 Y Reg 1.4i
4 Door
92'350miles
I'm also getting really crap mpg out of this, I thought i'd only be filling up at the fuel station once a week but been there twice now and only had the car from Thursday Night. What sort of mpg should I be getting as I was expecting 40-50, and cause of this going to be doing a fuel service which might help it as don't think it's been done from 75'165 miles....Kind of Oil? n What Should be needing replace:
Oil Filter
Fuel Filter
Oil
Air Filter
.............?
Went driving with foot off the accelator, there's a small clonking noise coming from the passanger front, maybe Wheel Bearings?
Might also needing a replacement gearbox and clutch but thought I'd leave this to a later date hehe
Thanks

A dealer will know what parts you need by giving them the reg plate or VIN. Oil will be in the manual.

As for the mpg i would think anything near 40 is pretty good considering the age of the engine. A full service can't hurt though.
#4: Re: Car Turning Into A Nightmare :( Author: Skullion, Location: DundeePosted: Sun Oct 23, 2011 4:53 pm ---- Oh I didn't mean I get 40mpg hehe, thats what I was hoping for. Every 5miles my needle drops, last £10.00 - £15.00 did roughly 47miles ;-(
I went into Auto Parts and gave them my Reg but said needed the NR number cause that type of model and year bought up two different parts on brakes?!?! ....
I checked eurocarparts and thanks very much as just having a look now and they're prices are really good and came back with the parts after typing in my reg.
Thanks
Paul

On £10 - £15 it's only about 7-11 litres (depending on price). You could try running a full tank of Shell v-power through or if monies tight, just put a bottle of redex in next time you fill up.
A good service will help, and don't forget the Bosch spark plugs.

However I was on Europarts and came across everything I was planning on changing but problem with Disc and Pads and when entered my reg came up with two different sizes of Disc's and Pads
Might just to just jacked the car up and have a look even tho it's very windy today lol.
btw Macca Is Bosch better plugs for the french as I've always used NGK on my jap cars.
Thanks
Paul

Don't even think about putting NGK plugs in a 206
They are a known cause of problems with the 206, stick to Bosch plugs.
