#3: Re: wont tick over Author: dumdum0910, Location: letchworthPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2011 1:27 pm ---- i thort that may be the problem i did try and unplug it and plug it in while it was running and didnt make any diffrence , it will only tick over at 450rpm , ive adjusted the throttle for the time being until i get 5 mins to take it out and give it a clean
#4: Re: wont tick over Author: mattievrs, Location: LeicesterPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2011 1:51 pm ---- ICV or TPS
#5: Re: wont tick over Author: dumdum0910, Location: letchworthPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2011 2:20 pm ---- toke the icv out gave it a clean and replaced oring. still no change , i pushed the plunger all the way in thinking the engine will rev when first started but it didnt :S is there any way of testing the throttle position sensor? i no when i have my obd scanner plugged in it does read the position throttle ok.
#6: Re: wont tick over Author: mattievrs, Location: LeicesterPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2011 2:57 pm ---- Think the tps is part of the throttle housing. Whats the condition of the throttle housing ie clean/dirty? Have you cleaned the map sensor aswell?
#7: Re: wont tick over Author: dumdum0910, Location: letchworthPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2011 2:58 pm ---- the throttle housing is in good condition , ive never cleaned the map sensor . how do you do that?
#8: Re: wont tick over Author: dumdum0910, Location: letchworthPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2011 3:01 pm ---- when i toke the icv out there was some gunge around the plundger but not anything to worry about
#9: Re: wont tick over Author: mattievrs, Location: LeicesterPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2011 3:03 pm ---- guessing its an 8v? its on the left hand front of the inlet with wires going into it. It should have a couple of screws in it.
#10: Re: wont tick over Author: dumdum0910, Location: letchworthPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2011 3:13 pm ---- yep i no were it is. i just toke it out it did have a bit of oil on it so blew what i could and cleaned as best as possible and still running low idle :S were the ecu has been reset so many times it wouldnt of lost its memory on were to tick over? just a possibilty

Clean everything with carb cleaner mate, not anything like wd40 as its oil based. Doesnt matter how many times you reset the ecu as its written on a chip to put it crudely.
Have you had the plugs out to see what condition theyre in?
#12: Re: wont tick over Author: dumdum0910, Location: letchworthPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2011 3:21 pm ---- the plugs r only a month old as i fitted bosch super 4s but i will check tomorrow , i will clean the map , icv and tps and plugs and see what happens.
