green is the 'eco' version I believe (1.4HDi), whereas red 'i' is the sporty 1.6HDi.

Yeah green is the eco hdi. Lower emissions etc I think.

Yeah its the eco version pretty sure you can get them on some 2.0 hdi's as well

Always wondered that myself when I was washing the car but always forgot to ask! I've never seen a red 'i' Are they rare?

Green i = eco HDi, available in both 1.4 and 2.0 engines
Red i = 1.6HDi 16v intercooled engine AKA bag of w**k

So all 1.4 diesel will have the green I all 1.6 the red I and 20 hdi will be either silver or green depending on spec.
