After the headgasket failed last year I had the head sent off to be skimmed. All was fine until a couple of weeks ago when I found that the engine was leaking oil and using water. After taking it to my mechanic friend to see what was up, he put the exhaust emissions probe in the coolant bottle to find that I unburned fuel in there, so coolant has been migrating to the cylinders through the gasket.

Not feeling like sending it off again, I decided to just get a new block. Moral of the story, an engine that has blown it's head will never be the same again. Oh well, at least it is good chance to give the new one a good clean and paint Smile

Any plastics that have been over sprayed will be replaced with the ones from my existing engine

Thimking about it the block may have warped, as they are only aluminium casting on the tu3 and below. Or a liner may have shifted

More than likely mate, so it was best to get rid and replace with one that hadn't been cracked open Smile

New downpipe back exhaust from MIJ exhausts, 2.5 inch diameter. Very pleased with their work, couldn't take any more pictures as I ran out of storage space on my phone.

Top work on rocker cover! Is Cometic - a name of paint colour?

I guess you'll reveal it all at FCS, not just that photo teaser of the exhaust Wink

Cometic is the brand of MLS head gasket that was used Smile

The wheels have been redone recently and I quite like how they have turned out

The car has a dodgy thrust bearing that wants addressing soon, and sometimes it will "hunt" and be unresponsive on throttle at low revs so you have to restart the car.

Thank you

The turbo is a T25 from a Nissan S13 and the guy I got it from included these. Not bad for £100 posted

Looking at how it all fits I will have to route the down pipe to the left, with the little inlet pipe sitting between the turbo and block, feeding into a bend above the down pipe. Will have to offer it up to the engine bay tomorrow!

The current engine has a 5 ply headgasket to lower the compression so I should be OK with the following on 10psi:
Cituning Manifold
Omex ECU
Intercooler with 2 inch inlet pipework to throttle body
330cc injectors
3.5 bar fuel pressure regulator

I also need to get banjo bolts etc

Very Happy also i am very envious of your engine bay, love it!
