i have a 2004.
now, 3 or 4 times when im down to the last markers on the fuel guage and fuel light coming on, the car has been really lumpy.
doesnt idle properly and sometimes it jolts, EML comes on and a brief loss of power but its for about 2 seconds then normal service resumes.
im going to try a bottle of petrol tank cleaner or something because if my model doesnt have a filter outside of the tank then its all i can do!
going to clean the throttle body tomorrow aswell. any guides or advice

2) No-need to disconect battery when unpluging sensors as long as the engine is not running.
Unless you want the ECU to re-learn parameters.
3) In-tank filter has nothing to do with date of manufacture. Mine is 2001 and has no external filter.
4) I would check possibility of contaminant in the tank and/or condition of fuel pump.

How when then cars not running or no keys in ignition???

No, you don't if the engine is not running as the ECU does not care.
Have done this with every sensor in there and never had EML come on
or codes appear.
CAN/VAN bus is a different matter though.

If the engine/ignition aint on, how is it going to know the sensor is disconnected?

I was bollocked by a mechanic (in a polite having a laff way) for not taking live off, hes a mechanic of 25 years, maybe I misheard him and he said pull live off for some other reason.
Either way, Im sure taking the live off has its benefits, just as leaving it on does.
