#1: Airbag Light On After Belts Changed, Not Crashed Author: CrazyDavid, Location: RushdenPosted: Sun Nov 20, 2011 5:34 am ---- Hi
I have recently joined the 206Gti life and loving it.
My 52 plated 206Gti had frayed drivers belt. Sadly I did not spot it when I first looked at it.
So I got a new belt from E-Bay and was assured it was not from a crashed car. But the air bag light comes on, I have tried plugging it in both ways. When I plug my old belt back in the light goes out.
Do I need to get the car re-set, if so how or have I been ripped off. If so can someone sell me a drivers belt that is ok...?
Thanks in advance..

There in probably lies the problem, yours will be a multiplexed car, and you bought a seatbelt from a PRE plexed car

Its basically a new wiring system where multiple signals can be sent down one wire IIRC. you need a belt from an 02 reg or newer to be on the safe side
