#1: Over heating Author: egouder, Location: MaltaPosted: Tue Nov 22, 2011 2:29 am ---- as the title states Yesterday I was driving my car and I stopped for 5 mins and I am sure that the temperature was fine before turning off.
Then went to turn on again and when I switched on the ignition the heat meter fired to the very top on the red, the fan turned on and STOP was flashing on my dash ... I switched off the ignition and waited for the car to cool of for 15 mins and then turned on the ignition again and everything was fine.
P.S I have been noticing that during a steep hill when i need to push the pedal harder then usual the temperature ruses slightly above 90 but then reduced immediately after the climb...and about 3 weeks ago i checked the radiator water and it was on low and refilled it.
I would appreciate if someone shed some light on this matter, and tell me if it is something to really worry about.

About 3 weeks ago? You should be doing weekly checks on the levels.
What's the coolant level like now?
Any sludge in expansion tank or under the oil filler cap?
Details of the model of car might help.

The coolant level is normal now, there were no sludge in the expansion tank or oil cap filler...
I also when I started again after letting cool off, opened the coolant water while idling, and it was not boiling or extremely hot either.
maybe some sort of electrical problem? thermostat?
the car is a 1999 1.4l

Replaced the thermostat first but still did it. Replaced sender and all is well.
Sender plugs in so it's reasonably easy to change, but expect to loose some coolant.
