#1: Peugeot 206 1.4 engine mounts Author: andyp3001, Location: LeicesterPosted: Tue Nov 22, 2011 6:12 am ---- Hi all,
My car is a Peugeot 206 1.4 petrol, 2002 plate. 72,000 miles on the clock. When I release the clutch in first (or reverse) gear, I feel a gentle thud from the engine as the clutch bites. Same when changing up to second. As I go up the gears it gets less of a thud. Plus, at higher revs (2500rpm+) I can feel slight vibration through the clutch pedal when changing gear. The clutch is recent and checks out OK. Could it be the engine mounts are worn/need changing? I have read that they are prone to premature wear on the 1.4 206's.
I have checked the engine movement and it does move about an inch upon the clutch biting, but you can hear the gentle thud when it moves. I don't know how the mounts are constructed, but it could be wear and tear in the rubber. I'm thinking the bottom mount next to the clutch is the culprit. Which would seem obvious given the recent clutch. Would it be worth replacing all the mounts, or just the bottom one? If indeed it is the mounts. There are three holding the engine. Thanks in advance.
