Its driving me nuts.
Ive had the plastic cover off and cant see anything obvious.

Might be something in the compartment where the wheel wrench is have a feel in there

I will have a look at the strip but prety certain its fine.
Sounds more like something in the boot lid.
Its defo not and wheel keys etc as I dont carry them.

i havent had chance to check but i think its the catch worn.
try some insulating tape and see if that cures it.

Mine is due to missing clips for the boot panel around the wiper motor
Simple fix, just buy new clips

Finally it was the lock, just loosen the 2 bolts and move it forward or backwards and tighten it again. Try different positions until the rattle is gone.

Lent my fathers magnetic retrieval tool, shoved it in the tailgate and gave it a wiggle around and retrieved a nut No more rattle!!
