#1: Injection Pump Leaking Author: stickman, Location: Port TalbotPosted: Fri Dec 02, 2011 2:58 am ---- okay so I was changing my oil, fuel filter, air filter etc the other day and I noticed the engine bay was stinking of diesel before I even touched the fuel filter, so looking around and I noticed diesel leaking from the Injector pump. so I went about tightening the bolts on it thinking they have come loose. as I have been having starting issues for a few months. trying to figure out what was the problem was giving me a headache until I noticed this.
my guess is that the seal has perished and air is getting into the fuel lines and causing the starting issue. I've included a few pictures to help but the question is can you get a new seal or is there a seal in the pump that is causing this issue?
cheers
the last picture is a little hard to make out but this is where the diesel has been leaking and has built up over time

Will be £££ to rebuild the fuel pump, so you might be better off seeking a decent secondhand replacement. Its normally caused by using out-of-spec fuel, ie has the car ever been run on veg oil, or other dodgy fuel, or always pump diesel?

cheers
