Just wondering if a 2004 PEUGEOT 206 CONVERTIBLE 1.6 with disc + abs would fit my 2000 PEUGEOT 206 GTI 2.0 ?? I would imagine it would but wasn't sure as its convertible model ... Confused

The ABS system is totally different on your 206 to the system fitted to a 2004 car.

So i thought my W reg didnt have ABS anyway and coudnt it just be fitted with the cables cut out ? Or is it more involved than that ? The mechanic said he could just cut them back ?

Your GTI had ABS fitted when it rolled of the prodution line, I told you to check the bulb for the ABS warning light in the instrument cluster in your other thread.

Yeah ive been told it does but surely if the axle was fitted without ABS it would still function as intended and the ABS light would stay on they can't fail an MOT for it and i have an axel thats 4 years newer ? What im concerned with is will the car still function without ABS on the rear ?

ABS warning light on / not working or not going through the correct check sequence is an automatic mot failure.

If the car had ABS then the light must function and work correctly.

Just get the correct axle and get it all working, or get a newer axle, don't connect the abs and get a 'mate' to get it through an mot for you.

Your choice, I know what I would do.

Newer axles wont have the brake compensating valve fitted.

Has anyone actually tried fitting a newer axle before ? or is it a no no ? Is it just the brakes themselves with ABS not the actual axle that need changing ?

This newer 04 axle wont have a rear brake compensator valve fitted.

Your 206 GTI might have one fitted, some older 206's with ABS did & some didnt, depends on the ABS system.

My Dec 2000 build GTi doesn't have a compensator.
