#1: Indicator and speedo fault Author: LeeUK, Location: NorthumberlandPosted: Sat Dec 03, 2011 6:27 am ---- I've just acquired another 206 for scrap money. It is a 2000 1.4 LX petrol but it has a few faults plus the MOT is due in 2 weeks time.
First fault is the indicators, sometimes they won't cancel when you knock it off yourself e.g the stalk seems to be very sensitive. Also when you go over a bump in the road or something the indicators make a flash/click.
Second fault is the speedo doesn't work. Just sits on 0mph.
Anyone know what the likely cost to get these faults fixed at an indie garage?
Just trying to work out if it is worth getting this 206 fixed as it also needs the brakes seeing too as they are not very responsive - could just need new discs/pads though. It also needs a new handbrake cable I think as it is nearly vertical when applied.
Thanks

The whole speedo doesn't work or just the current speed? If just the current speed, a quick check to rule out the sensor is open the door while driving and see if the interior light flashes and/or a beeping noise

#5: Re: Indicator and speedo fault Author: LeeUK, Location: NorthumberlandPosted: Sat Dec 03, 2011 8:41 am ---- The interior light doesn't come one and it doesn't make the beeping when door is open with engine on.
#6: Re: Indicator and speedo fault Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Sat Dec 03, 2011 8:51 am ---- Are you driving the car or parked?
#7: Re: Indicator and speedo fault Author: LeeUK, Location: NorthumberlandPosted: Sat Dec 03, 2011 9:12 am ---- Parked. But my other 206 beeps and flashes stop when I open a door with engine running. Thought this would have been the same.
Don't want to drive what with the dodgy brakes and indicators.
#8: Re: Indicator and speedo fault Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Sat Dec 03, 2011 9:26 am ---- That's because you have the keys in.
How are you possibly going to test the speed sensor parked up? you need to drive it or at least put it on stands and drive it.
