#1: Knocking From Back Wheels When Breaking Author: jonathonccs, Location: FifePosted: Sun Dec 04, 2011 6:12 pm ---- I have a 1998 1.4 206. When I brake there is a knocking noise coming from the driver-side rear wheel. The harder I break, the louder it is.
Any help will be appreciated as the frost weather is coming.

Not sure if it would be the same but my front brake caliper seized on one side. It made a lot of noise when braking just like yours. Took the wheel off and the piston was stuck so only one pad was working.
It wouldn't hurt to have a look

A common problem is the brake shoe linings come away from the shoes ..

I got a knocking noise when braking once and it took be a few days to realise I forgot to tighten the bolts up when I dropped the car down

When I had my axle done the drums were taken of and the shoes just fell out
