#1: 206cc stalling Author: ADIGraham, Location: PenarthPosted: Thu Dec 08, 2011 5:35 am ---- My 206 is stalling intermittently when stopping. The air filter is wet with a strong smell of petrol.
How can petrol get into the air filter box?
Could this be causing the stalling?

The petrol can only have gone into your filter backwards from your intake as if you have a normal filter housing it sucks air up from underneath the car, so unless you have driven through petrol somehow?

Thanx for your reply.
Due to the fuel injection system is it possible for fuel to come backwards.
I think the problem may be my local back street garage, they had the car recently, I wonder if they have poured fuel into the filter box for some reason. I have replaced the filter and will check it after a few days to see if there is any fuel in there again.

When your driving your sucking enough air through to keep the engine alive but sat at idle it will only take a small amount through the ICV, and so is getting starved.

Try setting fire to the filter! (joke!)
