I have a HTC Desire, and I'm finding it difficult to find a good place to put the holder.
Has anyone else found a good spot?

Make 1. Sure if you put your mind to it you will come up with something! Look at the iPhone/iPod Docks 1s in the How To's for ideas!!

I just have a holder that clips to the centre air vents. Ideal place for me as phone is also my sat nav.

Will the air vent hold the weight. Does the holder fall off going over ramps etc?

Not had a problem with it. It's one of those squeeze together type holders. The vent clips have little hooks on them so they don't come off, and leg type thing which sort of evens the weight out on the vent and makes the mounting a bit more stable.

I dont know if this helps as i did this for an iphone and it isn't entirely finished yet but it could give you a rough idea on what you could do.

Not keen on the window suction cups. Unless you wipe the circle away when you take it off, the scroates think you have a sat nav hidden in the glovebox or under the seat then break in to rob it.
Even if you haven't left anything in there, it's still a pain clearing up the glass or getting the body repaired.

puggy206, thats exactly what I'd love to do. Don't know if my woodworking skills are up to it though, I'd probaly loose a couple o' fingers in the process. I like the fact that the phone is lying down. I might just try it. I could cover it in leather, that and the cutting out I could manage, I don't haave a router though, I'd have to get someone to do that bit.

Macca1411 I don't like anything on the windscreen either. I have my Satnav to the right of the binnacle, on the dash.

I had one in my car when i bought it:

Requires you to file a tiny bit off from the centre console though, because the mounting frame of the phone holder went behind the centre console and i think it was screwed into something back there.
