ALL UK spec 206's came with at least a drivers airbag & seatbelt pretensioners.

Check the bulb in the instrument panel hasnt blown or been removed Wink

You need to fix it ASAP as the mot test will fail it from 2012 if the airbag light is missing / on all the time / doesnt go through correct check sequence.

The non plexed 206 airbag system is pretty basic.

Only faults you hear of are dodgy electrical connections & rarely when the rotary switch fails the drivers airbag can be fired when the horn push is operated, i've heard of 2 doing this so far over the years Laughing

Yes, as the airbag wont be fitted so it will be an automatic mot fail.

Most people on here would rather have the working airbag system as it does a good job Wink

Pop the instrument cluster out & check / replace the bulb for the airbag warning light & see if the system is working correctly.

Well i just checked mot testing and they dont check the airbag system and u can have a steerin wheel without a airbag they just check it secure and wont hurt the drivers hands when in use

And if it doesn't comeon during the test check ... MOT fail from next April as well ...

And OK Lee, depends who does it, but then I tend to get mine done by a legit and honest tester! Wink And if you get it down BEFORE April, it will pass and you have another year to worry about it! Wink

You might not have a year to worry about it if you crash.

End of the day a MOT is pointless anyway, as soon as you drive out of the garage it is not relevant, you could get stopped by VOSA on the way home, fail and have your car impounded. So waste of £40 anyway.

Do what you like, you have been warned, end of the day it wont be my face smashing in to the steering wheel due to a lack of airbag in the event of an accident.

so everyone with after market steering wheels that have no air bag will fail?

the law should be if its there it has to work and if not fitted with one then no need to test

its the same with roll cages tho that have no seat belts fitted in the back when they are ment to be there

Yep, instant fail.

You don't need rear seat belts if you update the log book.

You could always write to your MEP, if you don't agree with the law.

I think its pretty simple guys, from April 2012 whatever the car left the factory with it has to have it at the next MOT regardless as to whether the car has been modded or not, SIMPLES as those pesky meerkats say!!

I have to fit the standard exhaust can and number plate back onto my GSX-R750 for it to pass the MOT so why do petrol heads think they should be any different?

The law is the law so abide by it or face an MOT fail !!!!!

Rant over.

I have a 2002 clio expression 1.2, 16v. The passengers side airbag in the seat was triggered before I bought the car. I have to MOT the car in January and want to know what the regulations are for airbags which have been set off. The airbag light on the dash is on permanently as a result although the other 3 airbags were not triggered. Will this cause a fail on the MOT test? Hi there. When I turn the ignition on my airbag light comes on but also stays on until I turn the engine off. The airbag light staying on, is this an M.O.T. failure? Thanks Neil

There are no checks at all on airbags as part of the MOT Test. MOTT.

from an mot site
