Might be a faulty siren - just unplug it for the meantime.

Try disabling the ultrasonics with the button by the handbrake and see if it still goes of randomly.

I don't have the standard alarm, but found the info out by searching. I feel helpful tonight

Leave your car unlocked 10 days before Christmas. Sounds like a smashing idea and a great way to invalidate your insurance if the car is stolen.

Solution - unplug the siren, or even better disconnect the battery.

My Pug GTI did exactly that - alarm going off randomly at silly O'clock in the morning, or at any other time. I pressed the disabler button by handbrake to disable the alarm yet it still went off.

I checked all of the door sensors, boot sensors these where all okay. In the end I narrowed it down to Ultrasonic sensors (when previously I had ruled those out -due to button by handbrake!).
Anyway...I ordered new Ultrasonic sensors from Peugeot, took out the old ultrasonic sensors and fitted the new ones.

My alarm was fixed and working as it should be.

I reckon that replacing the Ultrasonic sensors will fix your problem. As I had exactly the same problem with my alarm as you seem to have.
Not to difficult either.
Just run the new ones in before totally removing the old wires, as this is easier to see where to locate the new wires which should be found on the drivers floor pan, but behind the brake peddle up near the steering rod.
Tricky to find at first but just get a torch and you'll see where the plug adapter is!

£28.00 quid for new ultrasonic sensors - Peugeot Main Dealer.

How long ago was that? How are they fitted as well, do the old sensors unplug half way down the loom or something?

I replaced the alarm sensors summer 2010 ( think).
Remove the sensors from the top a pillars 1st, so push out from A Pillars. Sensor wires run behind the trim above windscreen, so you need to free that.
Then just carefully free all way down to behind the dash.

Just leave the old sensor wires plugged in until you have refitted the new ones from the A Pillars down & into and behind the dash.
You'll see where the wires go when you free the old ones.
The little female plug socket that the new sensor wire fits into, is in an awkward place, in drivers footwell, above brake pedal, but at bottom centre of steering rod. So get a torch and crouch down there and take a peek.
I found it easier to just run the new sensor wires alongside the old ones till I had them in the right place. Then I just un plugged the old wires from female socket and put in the new one.
It took me about 1 hour to do.
I guess now I know how to, and were the sensor socket is...I'd get it done in 1/2 that time.

I didn't actually need all that how-to btw, but no doubt it will come in handy for someone Smile

I have a 306 and the ultrasonic sensors are gubbed as well. My sensors plug in halfway down the a-pillar which makes them easy to replace, but they are about £50 Shocked was just checking to see if they were similar to mine, but appears they aren't.

As long as the key is removed from the ignition barrel the immobiliser system is armed.

The immobiliser is a stand alone transponder system, its not tied in to the alarm or remote locking.

I woild've thought a low or goosed battery would do this. Why not get that checked out first? seen as the weather might have finished it off

Might be worth disconnecting the siren & giving the electrical connectors a clean out.

Be warned the siren has a built in battery back up / anti tamper circuit & thats why it can sound even if the alarm system is disarmed!

does the 206 siren have a backup battery? if it does then it's probably the siren itself that needs replaced.

Only the CAT 1 one which is only on the GTi180/RC I think.

The rest aren't CAT rated.

Mines not Cat 1 but there's a back up battery in the siren Laughing

From what I can see on Service box:

The multiplexed alarm system even if its not Cat 1 uses the exact same part numbers for the siren, control unit & ultrasonics as a 206 with a Cat 1 alarm system.

Its not the BSi unit either Confused

Will be additional wiring or configuration in the BSI.

There's three trim levels of BSI on a mux one and 4 on a non-plexed one.

So if the BSI unit is the same part number is it the configuration set up or the wiring loom thats different? Confused

All BSI's sold now are top of the range BSI's

Low and mid range aren't made anymore.

I spotted that the older BSI part numbers are listed NFP or No Further Production Laughing

Alarm is on connector EH1 on a normal BSI and PH2 on a top of the range Smile

hi all, yesterday I found out that I have an alarm after playing with all of the buttons inside the car(206 GLX 1.6) and it started to go off after 3 minutes of standing in the car park. I've switched it off and hoped that would be it but no I went off 2 more times in the night until I switched it off again. I want to use the alarm but I'm scared that it will go off every 5 minutes. I have no idea how to fix it, should I replace them? any help is highly appreciated! Smile

Disable the ultrasonic sensors with the button & then arm the alarm system, if the alarm now behaves you have found the fault.

99% of the time its the ultrasonic sensors at fault, easy & cheap to replace.
