Hi all, aint been here in a while thats not say aint had problems with the car but this afternoon while driving suffered a huge loss in power and rough idling often dropping to 500 rpm. Really struggled to get the car moving. Also a smell of rotten eggs which I believe to be sulphur. Done some research and sounds like the CAT has gone can someone confirm this for me the cars off to the garage in the morning.

thanks all

idle dropping down to 500 could be a sign of idle control, and rotten eggs is this when cold or all the time when warm?

Im out at the moment so cant get to the car and the smell only came this evening after the loss power could smell a hint of it in the car just after I lost power and as soon as I opened the bonnet there was a strong smell of it there and this was when the car was warm. I left about half hour 45 mins and went to start it and it fired up but still rough idling didnt leave it running for long enough to smell anything. Dont think this car likes xmas the altornator went 2 weeks before xmas last year.
