Speedo failure on early 206's is a well known problem that is simple enough to fix & been covered here on the forum plenty of times.

Have you checked the backlight bulb for the mileage dispaly hasnt blown?

If it does it means the speed sensor & wiring to the BSI is ok.
If it doesnt then it means the BSI isnt seeing the speed sensor signal input.

Door needs to be open / on safety catch with the car driving to get the light to flash.
