#1: Reverse Lights Stay On...Help please Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Tue Dec 20, 2011 12:09 pm ---- I've fitted LED bulbs to replace the standard blubs (after them blowing) and ever since the bulbs are always on. Become brighter when I go into reverse otherwise are quite bright.
Do anyone know what could be causing this and how can I go about resolving it..?

Easiest thing would be to fit a resistor in-line with each bulb.

or any more info on fitting the relay after the switch i.e. what relay etc. Just want an easy fix, or I will just have to fit normal bulbs back in.

Cut the wire then put one in the middle.
Based that on the average LED being 20-25 milliamps and the 16 being wired in parallel

If I can pick some up from Maplins tomorrow/thursday I'll probably get them done.
Again sorry about all the question. Gunna have to do it myself and if I've got as much information about what I need and what I need to do, I'll be able to do it without a problem and not have to fork out an arm and a leg to sort it out by some auto electrician.

Their purpose is to stop "bulb blown" messages on newer cars when LED's are used, but they will work perfectly for what you want. (the higher resistance level stops the light illuminating when you are not in reverse).
They are called "no canbus error led's" or something similar. Search on ebay

Do I wire a resistor into each the positive and negative of the reversing wiring and can I wire them into the wiring that is on the rear lights themselves..? i.e chop the wiring and solder the resistor half way between the light plug and bulb holder..?
Also will I be ok to drive around with the reverse lights the way they are atm..?

Yeah cut the wire between the plug and bulb and put it in there.
If they aren't too bright you should be ok

He is right. I bought some much better than those (SMD) and they are crap. I only bought them as I wanted them to be brighter but I put one in to test and I can't see anything with them. Going to put a proper bulb back in.
