#1: Oh no, what have I done? :( Author: sicskate, Location: Margate, KentPosted: Wed Dec 28, 2011 6:02 am ---- Ok, here goes. This is about my 1.4 hdi 2003
My parents bought me a tdi tuning box for my 1.4 hdi, the reviews all over the net were good and their feedback was fantastic.
I've gone to fit it (pain in the a**e) put the battery back in the car but the car wouldn't start :/
So I unplugged it and put everything back as oem, now the car starts but I'm getting an anti pollution fault
Any hints as to why this has happened?

I'm not sure where you had to wire it into by maybe a sensor was knocked causing the fault. Double check the instructions and contact the company for a refund or help

Best case scenario is its benign and will not show up on subsequent restarts; worst case scenario is you have damaged the ECU and need another.
AFAIK the 1.4HDI doesn't have a particle filter like the 1.6HDI, so you don't get the problems with regeneration, topping up with fluid, etc etc
Definitely worth speaking to the technical department (if they have one) at the tuning box firm, I suspect they'll not offer anything constructive though, in which case best to try seek a refund.

Cheap, poor quality ones can mess with the ECU causing error messages like you describe. Was it from a trusted company or off of ebay?
If you are certain that its installed correctly and the car wont start maybe its faulty?
If you are serious about improving performance and are not experienced, get it remapped professionally. The better option imo Last edited by MrrNoName on Wed Dec 28, 2011 11:00 am; edited 3 times in total

Again, I'm very sorry!
