About using my phone, unfortunately the battery life is poor on my Galaxy hence wanting something else. However I have heard good things about torque pro and others that I was looking at before.

Definitely a little gizmo you could show off to your friends without telling them about the adapter. See how many of them go searching for the bluetooth of their cars ;p
