#1: Lost locking wheel nut. Author: L5_UKS, Location: West MidlandsPosted: Sun Jan 01, 2012 12:00 pm ---- Hi Guys,
This seems to be a good way to start off 2012, Basically last night I hit a massive pot hole resulting in a blow out, come back home swapped over my wheels only to find that one was catching my suspension, So went to change the wheel again today but couldn't find the key, Nightmaree!
I think I even might of left the key in the bolt when I drove down the road to check it was okay.
I intend to take a picture of the pothole and damage to my tyre and write a letter to the council asking for compensation for this, I refuse to pay £300 a year road tax to drive on roads like this and let them get away with it, Has anyone contacted the council about the state of the roads and damage to there car and had any success?
So now my question is if i went to peugeot and they took a mold of the bolt would they be able to order one? They aren't the ones that was on my car when i brought it, so they wont be able to get it on the records and order one :/
Has anyone used these before and are they any good?
My only concern with these are the peugeot bolts ive got on are the ones that apparently the ends are really easy to brake as they are designed to snap if too much force is put on them.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Luke.

Have a look if it's the snappable types, if not you could get a socket on it and get it off. They look the same until you look close though.
If it is the snappable type you are going to struggle, I had to have them gas cut out which ruined the paint on the wheels. I tried drilling but they were just ridiculously strong so ended up ruining the drill bit.

Those reverse thread sockets are useless without an impact gun.

Don't know, didn't buy it last year. Got the garage to include it in the deal as they sold it with private plates on then made me wait till they had the paperwork back from DVLA before letting me collect it. Used my influence on them to get a big chunk knocked off the price.
#10: Re: Lost locking wheel nut. Author: fatboyslim, Location: Lincolnshire,Home of the RAFPosted: Sun Jan 01, 2012 1:23 pm ---- Those look just like the ones I had on my Honda CR-V
They were proper Honda ones
I had a problem with mine the holes in the nut were knackered so everytime I tried using the key it just slipped out
Called the AA and they sent some local garage who had 'proper Snap-On gear' after about 2 hours he gave up
I ended up going to a local tyre place they chipped the flange off using a chisel and then whacked a normal socket on the stump and a quick blast with a windy gun and off it came

#12: Re: Lost locking wheel nut. Author: Andrew, Location: Black Country Ay IPosted: Sun Jan 01, 2012 2:04 pm ---- Welcome to my world! Had to have sockets hammered on mine, the key never did turn up..
With a bit of hindsight I would have taken note of my key code.. Go to a friendly Peugeot breakers and ask if you can try some of their keys for a bit of beer money, they tend to have loads
Macca my road tax is higher than yours and we have the same engine!
