#1: What HDI engine? Author: Frost, Location: OxfordPosted: Thu Jan 05, 2012 12:45 pm ---- Well i'm looking to buy a 206 and i want it to be an HDI, so what HDI engines are there? i know that there is the 1.4 but i know little else.
So if people can inform me about the engines along with the adverage MPG so i can work out what i want to buy
Also things to look out for when buying a 206?
#2: Re: What HDI engine? Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Thu Jan 05, 2012 12:50 pm ---- 2.0 only
1.4 = gutless
1.6 = problematic
#3: Re: What HDI engine? Author: Mikey2uk, Location: StevenagePosted: Thu Jan 05, 2012 12:51 pm ---- They come in the following flavours
1.4 75bhp
1.6 110bhp (one to avoid)
2.0 90bhp
My 2.0 HDi I am getting about 48 to 51 MGP but that depends on how heavy your right foot is
#4: Re: What HDI engine? Author: Matt, Posted: Thu Jan 05, 2012 12:55 pm ---- 2.0

#17: Re: What HDI engine? Author: Brian, Location: VVT Land, FifePosted: Fri Jan 06, 2012 6:21 pm ---- the hdi 90's are wonderfultastic engines. As are the 1.4 HDi's to be fair The 1.6 DPF= useless for short wee journeys.
Although the newer models are great, seem to be fine in new 207 and 308 models. the 1.6hdi 92 is a particularly good little beastie.
#18: Re: What HDI engine? Author: Ghosty, Location: WiltshirePosted: Sat Jan 07, 2012 8:34 pm ---- My HDi GTi is fine on short runs, had the unblock particulate filter message pop up the other day, so drove for about 2 miles at 45 in second gear (4500 rpm) problem sorted. As for the car you get the best of both, the gti spec and the 110 hdi, which is both punchy and econimical, I'm currenty getting 43.8 with a heavy right foot. I had it at 51.3 with sedate driving, all round town.

If his vans empty, there's less weight than the average 206 so I guess its possible
Ive only had my car 3 weeks so only filled it up twice, but its averaging 37mpg. I am a little heavy footed at the mo though lol

All motorway at the moment, I forgot to mention. Plus, like the other fella said, the van is completely empty and is driven economically.

not surprise at all, pure motorway drive can easy get over 70 mpg on the 1.4 HDi lump
#33: Re: What HDI engine? Author: skard, Location: UK - NorthPosted: Wed Jan 18, 2012 12:42 pm ---- our 1.4hdi got 68mpg (calculated, trip showed ~65) normally on a mix of A roads in moderate commuting traffic. 70+ would have been easy on motorways driving reasonably.

What speed is that at. My 1.4 came out at 54 mpg. Motorway and a roads but keeping it steady. I did have some town driving but was slightly disappointed with that figure. Still getting used to driving a diesel and coming back to a manual so hopefully can improve that.

no idea. i would think is around 60-65mph
but 54mpg is just bad.
even i managed to get that on my 2.0HDi

I know, was hoping for 65-70. I sit at a steady 60 and was a bit shocked. I have just brimmed so will watch it closely and try to stick to a 2000 gear change and cruising below that.
Really hope it gets better.
#37: Re: What HDI engine? Author: Frost, Location: OxfordPosted: Thu Jan 19, 2012 3:30 pm ---- I forgot about this i ended up getting a 2.0HDI and i'm currently adverageing 40(ish) MPG
