#4: Re: anyone ever been pulled for having HID conversion kit/bulbs Author: Ghosty, Location: WiltshirePosted: Mon Jan 09, 2012 7:34 am ---- i have not been pulled yet, fitted them 2 days after i got the car, there even 2 different colours (one is white/blue 6000k, the other was listed as the same but appears white/yellow) i think as long as there not to blue, you should be ok. look at the new 5000k pure white ones, i think it the seller dont sort out the issues im having im gonna go to a set of 5000k in both the heads and fogs. as for the mot well thats not due till october, so i have plenty of time to sort it out.

Think the change over is in April.
#7: Re: anyone ever been pulled for having HID conversion kit/bulbs Author: Mrs_Howey, Location: WorthingPosted: Mon Jan 09, 2012 7:46 am ---- The regulations for HID in MOT has only come in this year, so thats why no previous problems have been had, but you need to have headlight washer fitted and i think they need to be fully adjustable to pass an MOT now

The change came in on Jan 1st, although it is supposed to be an advisory until April. By then the message will have got round the chav world so they can't say they weren't warned when their car fails.

You've sort of answered it yourself. No one is being pulled for them as they are not illegal. When they do become illegal plenty of people will be pulled. Think of all those £60 fines going into the police Christmas party fund.

All we need now is for them to be banned from sale / import in to the UK

I've never had a problem with factory HID lights.
Are you sure someone's not done a DIY conversion on this Range Rover?
Correct legal factory HID install for the UK will have:
Headlamp designed for the HID bulb.
Automatic headlamp leveling either built in to the headlamp unit OR it can use the cars self leveling suspension system
Headlamp washers.
#15: Re: anyone ever been pulled for having HID conversion kit/bulbs Author: Golfguy206, Location: PeterboroughPosted: Mon Jan 09, 2012 10:35 am ---- I disagree, I don't think they should be made illegal.
(waits for all the the haters to comment.... )
I think if they are fitted to projector lamps (not reflector lamps) and fitted with washers and correctly aligned, I don't see the problem. Last edited by Golfguy206 on Mon Jan 09, 2012 10:36 am; edited 1 time in total
