#1: radiator fluid reservoir, can't see the level Author: m4tth3w, Location: sheffieldPosted: Mon Jan 09, 2012 1:06 pm ---- On my 01 206 gti the coolant reservoir is a milk white colour and I can't see the level of coolant through it.
It seems a silly design.
The only way I can check the level is to fill it to the top then siphon some out again.
How do you guys check your level? or is it just me that has a non transparent reservoir?

#3: Re: radiator fluid reservoir, can't see the level Author: NorthantsBen, Location: Raunds, NorthamptonshirePosted: Mon Jan 09, 2012 1:31 pm ---- as your filling up keep sticking your finger in till you know it hits your finger.
or at dusk/night shine a torch into the tank and should see level.

#5: Re: radiator fluid reservoir, can't see the level Author: m4tth3w, Location: sheffieldPosted: Mon Jan 09, 2012 2:04 pm ---- Used a torch and still can't see it. Maybe my eyesight is crap.
I hope the low coolant light is reliable.

#7: Re: radiator fluid reservoir, can't see the level Author: m4tth3w, Location: sheffieldPosted: Mon Jan 09, 2012 2:46 pm ---- It's the flat bottle not the round one, and I can fill it till I see the liquid at the spout but that's 2 inches above the max line?
would have been nice if Peugeot used a transparent plastic like most other manufacturers.
IS it dangerous to fill up above the max line or should I just siphon a couple of inches back out every time?
#8: Re: radiator fluid reservoir, can't see the level Author: Lee, Location: EnglandPosted: Mon Jan 09, 2012 2:54 pm ---- Yeah you can get lack of pressure.
If you use anti-freeze, you should be able to see it anyway
#9: Re: radiator fluid reservoir, can't see the level Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Mon Jan 09, 2012 3:03 pm ---- Just take the cap off and squeeze the top radiator hose and if the level is correct you'll see the coolant.

It's on a French car, it's electrical related and you hope it's reliable.
I just look in the filler hole to check mine. Never had a problem that way.
