#1: Changed linkage but still loose? Author: sheehan879, Location: HitchinPosted: Tue Jan 10, 2012 5:03 am ---- To cut a long story short the wife's 206 1.4 (51 plate) popped the linkage of the gear box, I changed the 2 short linkages but forgot to get the pin to keep it on the gearbox so put a nut and bolt through, which seems stronger than the pin so I was going to leave it.
There is still alot of movement left and right on the stick, it doesn't look like the longer linkage has any effect on left or right movement and it looks ok.
I was thinking it could be the ball joint on the stick itself of the joint where the gear stick shaft meets the linkages at the front of the car.
Has anyone got any ideas?
Cheers

Cheers

Author: Steve206, Location: UKPosted: Thu Jan 12, 2012 2:38 pm ---- I found the ball joint on the subframe was loose when i changed my linkage rods, take a look at that. Its between the gearstick linkage rod, and what the gear rods connect to, Its got a big white plastic ball in it. You'll know it when you see it.

Not sure what to do next, might have to bite the bullet and take it to a garage.
