#1: Back wheels 'sticking' ??? Author: r1ch, Location: LeicesterPosted: Fri Jan 20, 2012 3:22 pm ---- Hey everyone.
Odd problem i noticed today. I start the engine, put it into gear, take the handbrake off, start to pull away, but then it feels like the handbrake is on slightly and i can hear the back wheels groan as i start to move. But then it frees up and i drive like normal.
Does anyone know the problem i have??
Any help appreciated

Just bob underneath tomorrow and with the handbrake off spray the lever, spring and bit of cable on each caliper with wd40 type tackle and keep pulling the hand brake on and off.
Mine worked for a few months but it rarely moves so everything sticks on it!

if it unstick itself quick enough then it is normal. brake shoe do stick quite easily...

yeah drums. i guess i shouldnt worry about it then. perhaps just spray some wd40 as suggested.

One of my shoes was sticking on, took drums to bits, adjusted the shoes, lubed up the handbrake cable, chamfered the edge of the friction material, redressed the drum surface with course sand paper and still stuck on. Eventually it ripped the friction material from the metal plate causing loss of brakes and a new set of shoes. Seems quite a common problem. Only thing I could find as a possible cause was crap quality brake shoes being fitted by the last owner.
