#1: Coolant bleed screw - heater hose Author: Jake86, Location: BoltonPosted: Sat Jan 21, 2012 10:13 am ---- I'll be the first to say it - I'm an idiot! I have managed to lose the bleed screw from the heater hose on my GTI 180 whilst refilling it earlier today, one minute it was there, the next it wasn't ! I have had a look down the back of the engine, on the floor, etc and can not see where it has gone.
Does anybody know if there is a chance of me getting just a replacement bleed screw from somewhere?! I have had a look on servicebox and can not see just a replacement screw, it looks as though I'd have to buy the whole hose :(.
Any help appreciated! This isn't what I envisioned my first post to be, but at least I'm outed as an idiot from the beginning!

I was told they don't sell the screw seperately but I found it 10 minutes later

I have searched high and low for it, I've even jacked the car up so I can scoot under and have a feel/look around, it's vanished! I guess I'll be on the phone to the parts department when they open on Monday morning. Fingers crossed they can get hold if it as I need it sorted ASAP

#5: Re: Coolant bleed screw - heater hose Author: Jake86, Location: BoltonPosted: Sat Jan 21, 2012 1:34 pm ---- Yep, that looks like it. The longer bit goes to the expansion tank and the bit with the bleed screw goes through the bulkhead. I've lost the little disc like bleed screw! Stuck without my car too

If you are mobile you could collect it because I'm about 40 miles away.

They aren't too bad down there. Failing that nip round the corner to Metro and they will probably charge you a couple of quid.
There is also a little scrappers just off Blackburn Road (Back Eckersley Road/Mold Street), he had 3 or 4 206s in the other week, he's a bit brain dead when it comes to parts so you might be able to get one from him, he also let's you take the parts off yourself which is an added bonus. PM me if you want his number as gates are normally locked, but he's never usually far away.

Thanks for the offer Edward. Unfortunately I have no other means of getting around apart from pushbike or public transport so I can't collect.
Lee, if you have definitely got the hose/screw and could send it tomorrow that'd be great. If you PM me your paypal details I will send something across to cover the postage!

#11: Re: Coolant bleed screw - heater hose Author: Jake86, Location: BoltonPosted: Sun Jan 22, 2012 10:07 am ---- It looks similar. Obviously can't compare it to mine or else I wouldn't be in this mess ! If it came from a pipe like the picture Edward posted then I'd assume it's right and will fit?!
#12: Re: Coolant bleed screw - heater hose Author: kandlbarrett, Location: SwindonPosted: Mon Jan 23, 2012 4:39 pm ---- Why not replace it with a stainless steel or brass bolt and "O" ring? Does anyone know what the thread is?
