#5: Re: gti 180 timing Author: Big_Rich180, Posted: Wed Jan 25, 2012 8:10 am ---- Ill bet my next wage they didnt use the correct locking tools.
Get it to a Peugeot dealer or specialist then charge the garage for the work.
#6: Re: gti 180 timing Author: chris83rfc, Location: scotlandPosted: Wed Jan 25, 2012 8:12 am ---- They told me they borrowed the tools from the peugeot garage Last edited by chris83rfc on Thu Jan 26, 2012 2:31 am; edited 1 time in total

It sounds like they havnt been able to time it properly.
As i say take it to Peugeot and get them to confirm that and then bill the company that messed the work up in the first place.
#8: Re: gti 180 timing Author: chris83rfc, Location: scotlandPosted: Wed Jan 25, 2012 8:25 am ---- onyeah i will do, i thing iv given them long enough to sort it out, they just keep taking it apart and restarting the job and its a waste of my time and theirs
#9: Re: gti 180 timing Author: chris83rfc, Location: scotlandPosted: Wed Jan 25, 2012 10:03 am ---- spoke 2 the guy at the garage agian an he says the timing is perfect and the engine runs fine and doesnt know why it has lost power

The word "b******s" springs to mind lol, its running bad because they havnt done the job right, was it down on power before it went in?
#11: Re: gti 180 timing Author: LeeThr, Location: North West WalesPosted: Wed Jan 25, 2012 10:07 am ---- Timing will be out, the 180's are known for it.
#12: Re: gti 180 timing Author: ramigojag, Location: worcestershirePosted: Wed Jan 25, 2012 10:41 am ---- It will probably be the exhaust cam one tooth out it does happen quite regularly.
I disagree with the person above^
its not the 180's fault people can't time it properly it is awkward

#14: Re: gti 180 timing Author: chris83rfc, Location: scotlandPosted: Wed Jan 25, 2012 10:55 am ---- The power was fine before i put it in, i only got belt done because i had reached the 60,000 mark an didnt want to take any chances. #16: Re: gti 180 timing Author: chris83rfc, Location: scotlandPosted: Wed Jan 25, 2012 11:14 am ---- there is a pug garage about 45 mins from ma house so ill take it there if they cant sort it Last edited by chris83rfc on Thu Jan 26, 2012 3:04 am; edited 1 time in total
#17: Re: gti 180 timing Author: Timon2210, Location: PalestinePosted: Wed Jan 25, 2012 11:26 am ---- The Best thing to do is take it to a Pug garage,I would say that the garage who worked on yours didn't work it right, because a timing belt job would take about 3-4 hours of labor,so since your car been there since 19th!!! well it's not a rocket,to have 5 days to get it done.
Losing power means that the timing is not right, engine is not working on it's full capacity, maybe they knocked the crankshaft sensor that measure the speed of the engine while they worked on the timing belt,I hope they used genuien parts for your car,and not the after market ones.
#18: Re: gti 180 timing Author: rttam, Location: devonPosted: Wed Jan 25, 2012 12:09 pm ---- guarentee you they will have not used the correct tools and timing is out
if it ran fine when it went in its something they have done therefore its up to them to sort it out
#19: Re: gti 180 timing Author: SAB206, Location: North WestPosted: Wed Jan 25, 2012 12:16 pm ---- Happened to mind, it was just one tooth out on the exhaust cam. Easy mistake to make because there is two locking pin holes.
#20: Re: gti 180 timing Author: chris83rfc, Location: scotlandPosted: Wed Jan 25, 2012 12:26 pm ---- Cheers for all the advice, im goin to mention the exhaust cam to them and see wot they say . if they dont sort it ill defo be taking it to pug.
