#1: Which Axle do I need?? Author: ej2_sir, Location: Derby PostPosted: Sun Jan 29, 2012 1:37 pm

Hi,
New to this forum. Just bought myself a 206hdi d turbo as a run around and unfortunatly the seller wasnt too honest about the faults the car has! Anyway the axle bearings have collapsed on drivers side and being new to Pugs/Axles, I am a bit unsure as to what axle i need. Its rear drum with Abs. Can I fit any axle of say a 1.1 and swap my hubs or do I need to find a d turbo one? Any help would be appreciated and sorry if this has been covered, did search but couldnt find an answer

You will need a multiplex axle (2001 onwards but check to be sure) if you require the abs to work.

If your car has drum brakes then it's best and cheaper to get that, if not a disc one it should be. You can get a disc one even if you have drums already but they are more exensive and require a longer handbrake cable.

Non working / removed ABS = instant MOT failure.

I meant if it came with abs as standard, as you can simply not use the sensors if not Wink

No idea what diesels come with

OP already said in the first post the car has ABS fitted.

Really? Wouldn't feel confident with a skinny ARB and TB's from a 1.1 axle going into a corner.

The 1.1s and 2l HDIs have the same size bars.

If you are getting a new beam, does it matter? Just use the brakes that come with it.
