Auto button on Light Stalk

#1: Auto button on Light Stalk Author: Jaffacake, Location: Basildon, Essex PostPosted: Tue Jan 31, 2012 5:09 am

Hi all

Ok, first question... having gone through the owners manual several times I still cannot find out what the button on the end of the light stalk on the left hand side does? It has the word 'Auto' stencilled on there.

Is this something to do with the auto lights or am I barking up the wrong tree?

It turns the automatic headlight function ON or OFF.

If the auto headlights are working correctly leave the button alone!

Ahh ok. Is there any indicator light or something to tell you whether its on or off or do you just have to wait and see??

Cheers

Adie

when you switch the ignition off MFD will say "automatic lighting activated"

Start the engine, get out the car & hold your hand over the sensor on the windscreen.

OR

Take the car somewhere dark like an underground carpark / garage.

Earlier BSI software versions dont, they will only flag it up when you use the button to change the status of the autolights.

you can turn it off, by putting the key in ignition (possition 1, just before you pull it out), and press the end button, you will get a ping after about 4 secs, and the mfd will tell you auto headlights deactivated (unless its the older one then i have no idea)

Ive no idea why anyone would want to turn the autolights feature OFF, they work perfectly on the 206 Cool

lol, its fricken annoying when you go under a bridge, and they come on, or at 3pm and its just starting to lose light they come on, if it could be set to a varying level, like sides then dipped, it would be ok. unless it does that and mine is ferked, i have never seen it auto sidelight though.

Might be to stop the twenty people a week saying "ere mate you've left your lights on" and then explaining they are auto lights. I only use mine during the winter as its dark on way to work and then back home again. During the summer I tend to leave them off.

Follow me home function now needs you to flash the headlights after key is turned off to get the dipped beam to stay on for the 30 seconds.

Either 30 mins or an hours labour charge.

Rear wiper in reverse if fronts are on & motion locking is also worth getting turned on IF you dont already have it.

Lee activated the rear wiper for me but having motion locking would be good. We have that in the punto comes in handy with the kids in the car.

I have. Tried to activate it once before but it didn't work. May have another go thinking about it.

Not every car has the option. I have had read wiper when in reverse turned on. Had hazards on when breaking too but it p**sed me off.

I have my auto lights on all the time. It's so much easier.

Hello.

I have installed homemade Auto cap on my 02 German market 206. When I push it on Accesory position it say Auto lighting active with bong. When I press it aggain it does not say anithing it just does bong aggain.
I don't have sensor installed and I have programed daytime running low beam lights because it is law in my country.
Now I have question:
Do I need sensor for coming home function or I have to turn of my daytime running lights? I had tryed both metods and it doesn't work.
