What is your plan. Thats my dream.

Ported Polished 180 head
180 intake manifold with butterfly (or ITB)
180 or aftermarket exhaust manifold
Catcams
Forged Hi-Comp Pistons
Forged Conrods

etc.etc.etc.

Good luck Wink

Thanks Schumi Smile

We're going to port and polish the head, it will also be flow benched to get the maximum efficiency, ITB's (that's the reason this project even started), some "mild" spec (not race but still quite nippy) cams, so we keep the middle rev range useful (I don't want a dyno queen), a custom plenum and a DTA ECU to run the show. It already has a 4-1 SS manifold, Janspeed catback, and a modified cat. I'll keep the forged conrods and hi compression pistons out of the equation for now, but who knows Smile

Thats sweet man, I got a quote for throttle bodies last week for my 206 and it was just over £2000

since then i have been thinking about about putting the EW12 engine in my car too as it has a lot more power plus 160lb torque Very Happy

You can get them far cheaper, PM macj if his offer for ITB's+ECU is still up. Also, it's not necessary to buy Jenvey ITB's, if you have a few skills you can use bike TB's for far less.

P.s. if you'll use the ew12j4 engine, you need to know that the use of an aftermarket ECU is highly recommended (or at least one of a GTi180).

Heh thanks...will look a lot better next year with the engine upgrade and slick tires =) I tried slicks on that day, but it was too late and too cold, so I spun out in one of the fast corners (rear tires just didn't get warm enough) but the difference in grip in the sharp turns was unbelievable, even though only the front tires were warmed up.

Bit of work being done there, how come you've chosen na over turbo? Just a cost thing?

Heh, so much updating goes on in this section, I've missed my own thread Laughing In my opinion the 206 is a bit small to turbo charge. And of course there was the money issue Smile But if would have gone down the FI route, I would have chose a compressor set up. Much more linear power delivery, there for a lot better suited for track use, as well as daily driving Wink

Here's a translation of the post that the guy behind the transformation of the engine made on our forums. Please do correct me if you see a mistake. I am not that familiar with some of more specialized English terms, so there might be quite a few mistakes in the following text.

And it has begun. Smile

When we first took off the exhaust manifold, it wasn't quite clear why's the second cylinder exhaust black. There definitely had to be something with the injection or the burning of the mixture itself. Even the spark plugs were "tutti frutti", two of them weren't even the same color, but okay, the engine has done over 200kkm and the "brilliant" Sagem coilpacks didn't do any favors so it isn't all that surprising that the engine is a bit worn.

First real shock followed when the head was taken off. What school teaches that when you change the head gasket you sand the old gasket down with sand paper Question Rolling Eyes Mad ...well nothing unusual, having in mind that a buddy learning to be a mechanic told us that the professor taught them that at class Rolling Eyes Not to mention it was full of silicone, even were there was no need for it (gaskets)...but that's all behind now...

This is how it looks:

The cylinder head was also measured and the valves are bigger then the ew10 j4. The exhaust one is 2mm bigger as well as the intake one, which gives us a better starting point for modifications.

Two more pics of the cylinder head:

First real worry was the main shaft. One of the connecting rod bearings was measured and the other three checked. They were definitely already replaced as those were the best looking bearings on an engine with more than 20kkm. So they must have been changed recently.

Numbers look great. They have just the right amount of play and we're just hoping, that the bearings on the main shaft are in the same condition.

There is one more thing with this engine. It has balancing rods (is this the right term?). They're placed there to keep the engine running very smoothly. but if we'll get the info that we can remove them safely, then that big piece of iron is definitely going out. Some fiat/lancia/alfa egines have them as well, but they are belt driven and people usually just unplug them.

This is how they look:

Oh one more thing. Remember the black exhaust pipe no.2? That was due to an injector on the second cylinder. There was no rubber (like a little gasket) under the injector and on the third one it was half torn. I really do wonder how this engine ran when it was still in the car Smile

This is it for mow. We need to make a few measurements before we take the block apart but we're still waiting for a specific tool, which should be arriving soon. JLD Performance.

haha tb206hdi, yes that's quite annoying Very Happy but I got used to it. At first my friends were laughing their asses of as they thought I was switching on the indicators while steering left and right Laughing

And back to the topic, we've decided that we're going to make our own throttle bodies. The reason for this, they can be designed just the way we want to, they will be far cheaper than Jenvey ones and we can make them look as standard as possible.

BTW I found a pic of the car on the latest track setup Twisted Evil

I believe I'll keep the all white theme on racetracks Twisted Evil
