Hey everyone,

I am new to this forum so I'm not sure if I am posting in the right place or if anyone else has asked these questions. I have a 2001 PEUGEOT 206 LX 1124cc and would like to make it look more 'Sporty'.

I am going to put LED light strips in the footwells of my car but I am confused on what colour of LED's to get. The interior lights are orange so I want a colour that goes well with the dash lights etc. Any suggestions on what colour I should get?

Also this is my first car and I am very inexperienced are there any good detailed guides on how to install them? I tried getting access to the cigarette lighter wire by pulling up the gear box cover and taking out the electric window switch unit to get access to it but the wire is too short and looks REALLY tricky to cut and add another wire to it!

I also popped out a plastic holder beside the hand brake and inside there is a white connection block with 3 wires going to it (One wire is blue, another was green/yellow and there was another colour as well but I can't remember) It looks like something plugs into it. Does anyone know what this is for? Is this a power source?

Also is there any way I can change the colour of the speedo needle bulbs on this model of the 206 to a blue coloured needle? The needle is a dirty yellow white colour, it looks horrible!

Here's another question, the tow bar on the rear of the car is a real eyesore is the tow bar easily took off? I'm guessing the bolts would be really rusted since its been on the car for over 10 years.

If you have any other suggestions on what I can do to improve the look of my car I would really appreciate them! I have already installed rear lexus style lights and changed the headlights to xenon bulbs.

I also ordered 2 second hand working car key remote controls with chips inside of eBay.. I would never pay over £90 to get one from a Peugeot dealer! Will these keys work on this type of car? I don't know if it is compatible because I only have a basic key currently...

Looking forward to replies Very Happy Thanks everyone!

This is what my car looks like now, I will keep updating pictures as I go along to show how it turns out in the end:

Shocked can tell you are indeed new here Smile

haha but welcome.
I have blue LEDflexistriplight things in my footwells but at present i just have them on the cig plug they came with, they are pretty straight forward to install, mine are just cable tied to the underside of the fuse box on the drivers side, and superglued to the underneath of the glove box, both in a way where they are completely hidden from view. im also in the process of changing my dial lights so ill let you know how that goes...

All the things you have mentioned there have been covered plenty of times on this forum. You'll just get told to search the treads.

Regarding chopping into the cigarette lighter, it is tricky, but possible. I have done it in my car to have another supply point next to the steering wheel for my satnav.

Depends if you want them on all the time, with your lights or just when you unlock or open the door.
This is my guide for wiring so the lights come on with the interior light. If you search the "how to" section, then there may be other guides that you find useful.

As for the keys, not 100% sure but you will probably need to get them tuned to the car using Peugeot Planet. This is dealer only software unless you know someone who has their own copies. Lee will be able to advise you better on this.

Macca's how-to is probably more relevant for you, just move the lights to the footwells, instead of the doors.
I've made a How-To for footwell neons, Here
I made that thread in 2010, and now I'd definitely recommend LED's, give the same output light, probs a little brighter than neons, and they only have two wires for positive and 0v.

Personally, I'd go for red lights, here are what mine look like;
