hi all. first off i'm simon, from selby in n yorkshire. ive just got rid of a car i built from the ground up, carrying out all the work my self bar paint. some of you may have seen it at shows last year....

anyway, on to the current car. its not going to be to everynes taste, and some will see it as a pointless waste of a convertable, but im more into bass than looking forward to getting the roof down 3 says a year!

2005 206cc 1.6 16v quiksilver. again virtually all work will be carried out by myself.

so first things first with all audio proects, if you cant get the power to the amps, they're not going to work!!

so alternator upgrade. i could have gone to town on it and used a 210a alt, but when a direct fit 150a is available readily for £20 a time, i'm game for that option!

guess which is the 70a and which is the 150a?!?!

tight fit.....

next thing is to upgrade the big 3. 0awg galore!!!

and with a run of 0awg to the rear, we need fusing and distribution....best make my own i think

last year just as a tide me over, i was running 2 vibe space 12"s in a 38hz tuned box...

this managed a 141.2db flat through 31hz to over 40hz, which was pretty damn good. however i knew with better kit, and a better box i could do better.

so i ordered another ground zero 2500w (thats rms, not peak!) mono amp and two of their finest nuclear subs. for those of you who don't know much about spl builds, theyre not the prettiest!!!

5cuft box, 36mm thick all the way round, braced with m16 stud bar. solid.

ive since made wall sides, but its far from finished, i will get more pics when its done.

unfortunately one of the mono's is faulty, so i have only had it tested with 1 amp running at 2 ohm, so at best 1500wrms, and it scored a 144.0db @ 40hz - happy days!!!

with all that bass though the standard front end wouldnt cut. take two donor door cards, butcher the hell outta them then trim in leather......

and we have housings for the finest 8" ground zero competition mids and there ridiculously loud 4" pa style tweeters!!! trim the centres and refix and we're ready for fit!!!

Easy....it's a Dwarf coffin....or a Picnic basket.

If your not having the roof down what about welding it up and making it a proper coupe?
