Noisy Car update
-> 206 Problems

I posted about this small problem a while ago here:

www.206info.co.uk/Foru...41375.html

Since this post, the car was relatively quiet and doing as it was told. I still took it to the garage to get looked at but sods law it made no noise so they didnt know what i was on about. They fitted a new fan belt anyway for nothing so that was nice enough, but the next time i started it from cold the noise came back and now its worse than ever!

This is really annoying because it wasnt there when i bought it and its pretty embarrasing for the first 5 minutes of driving, before it all quietens down again when the engines warm.

Heres a short vid of the noise, its definately coming from the fan belt area. Is it something simple as just tightening or loosening a couple of screws?

any help much appreciated.

Put a bit of talcUm powder on the belt, should quiet it down

When they changed the fan/aux belt did they change the tensioner spring. I had the same sort of problem and when they did both it solved the problem!!!

Belt is self tensioning so would not need to tighten anything

Thanks for the talc idea ill try that when i get a chance.

As far as i know they only changed the belt, is the tensioner something i coukd do myself with nearly no car expertise or should i just take it back?

I would take it back. The talc will only solve the problem short term.

Sounds like one of the pulleys is on its way out. Best bet is too remove the belt and check for any movement in the pulleys.
