#3: Re: few problems with girlfriends car Author: lisa206, Location: BirminghamPosted: Sun Feb 12, 2012 12:44 pm ---- not sure if you know this but if the alarm keeps going off , you have to push the button in the middle of the car like between the seats , hold for a few seconds then a red light will appear in the middle of dash-where indicator button is. Then lock car . Hope this helps with that :s

Check the battery like you did on your golf, if that isnt the problem and the idle is a bit ruff to try cleaning the idle control valve, if the the XSi has one.
Second one the alarm keeps going off
Again could be battery, or more than likely the internal senors are knackerd. There should be a little button by the hand brake to turn them off. Once the ignition if off press and hold the button until the hazard light stays one then, get out and lock the car as normal. If the alarm doesnt go off you know what the problem is.
Third the rear offside wheel is rubbing against the inside of the wheel arch
Get it put on a ramp, or take the wheel off to see whats rubbing, and check for damage. If you cant see anything serious get it put on an alignment machine.
#7: Re: few problems with girlfriends car Author: XSIcheeseman, Location: OrpingtonPosted: Sun Feb 12, 2012 1:15 pm ---- The button what does it do? Yeah I'll take the wheel off tomorrow hopefully . I'll check the battery voltage too

First. Battery
Second. Battery
Third. Negative camber, rebuild time or a reconditioned axle job.
#9: Re: few problems with girlfriends car Author: leigh_boy, Location: EastbournePosted: Sun Feb 12, 2012 1:20 pm ---- the button turns on and off the interal 'ultrasonic' sensor
#10: Re: few problems with girlfriends car Author: D4NTP, Location: Not Leeds or its surrounding areas!Posted: Sun Feb 12, 2012 1:33 pm ---- If a standard rear wheel is rubbing on the arch there is f*** all use in paying for an alignment check! somethings bent or the bearings have collapsed.
#11: Re: few problems with girlfriends car Author: XSIcheeseman, Location: OrpingtonPosted: Sun Feb 12, 2012 2:30 pm ---- Great that's what I was thinking I doubt it's a bearing as it would rumble

#21: Re: few problems with girlfriends car Author: Taff!, Location: Havant nr PortsmouthPosted: Thu Feb 16, 2012 11:20 am ---- Is it more of a rattle or a clunk? I have a clunk but think that will go once the rear shocks are changed. rattles could be a heat shield, doubt it's exhaust. Check in the sapre wheel for the jack and make sure that securely located and not bouncing about in the cage. Check in the boot where the wheel brace is that it's secure and that there's no bits in there floating about.
#22: Re: few problems with girlfriends car Author: XSIcheeseman, Location: OrpingtonPosted: Thu Feb 16, 2012 11:25 am ---- It's a clunk coming from the front , I'll give it a better inspection at the weekend but just looking for ideas
