#7: Re: mpg on throttle bodies Author: copey, Location: rochdalePosted: Thu Feb 16, 2012 12:04 pm ---- personally i think spending 2k on something to make what essentially is not a particulary amazing car (not yours just them in general) seems like quite a waste better off putting the 2k towards something faster in the first place

People say the same when i say how much ive spent on mine (high 5's rising fast)
My car will win shows, no one has a car the same, and lets face it would you get as many looks in a 207 gti as you do in my 1.4 turbo
#10: Re: mpg on throttle bodies Author: Icetto, Location: Cape TownPosted: Thu Feb 16, 2012 1:30 pm ---- Wise words there Addaz
#11: Re: mpg on throttle bodies Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Thu Feb 16, 2012 1:52 pm ---- totally agree with addaz ive hit the 5k mark and wouldnt swap it for a faster car as this is my car how i want it

If you're worrying about running costs just now, you probably can't afford them.
#14: Re: mpg on throttle bodies Author: Seabook, Posted: Thu Feb 16, 2012 2:45 pm ---- unless you do silly mileage per year otherwise the difference is minimum.
let say you do 8K mile per year.
the difference between 30mpg and 25 mpg is only is only 53 gallon, which is roughly 320 quid.
that means less than 1 quid per day.

£2k on a ssheddy 206 isn't worth it. If its a decent example then it is. Your experience of an 206 HDI doesn't give the same impression that a decent petrol engine would.
There are other factors to think about with mpg with cam choice etc. If its set up properly it won't be significantly thirstier.
#16: Re: mpg on throttle bodies Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Fri Feb 17, 2012 2:06 pm ---- thanks for tha edward was waiting for your input
i wont be running cams as severe as yours, think i would stick to the re-profile i have now
reading the 205 forum it seams that if set up right on the RR it should be about the same as standard with gentle driving obviously
#17: Re: mpg on throttle bodies Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Fri Feb 17, 2012 3:43 pm ---- Obviously more power means you'll drive it harder using more fuel but drive it sensibly and they are fine.
#18: Re: mpg on throttle bodies Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Wed Feb 22, 2012 4:20 pm ---- The words throttle bodies and driving sensibly dont fit in the same sentence....... just the sound makes you put your foot down
#19: Re: mpg on throttle bodies Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Fri Jun 22, 2012 3:05 pm ---- 250miles to a full tank if your lucky may get near 280 on a v.long distance run, mines usually around 230ish as I do like to use the full extent of the rev range And mines been a dailey driver for the past 5years.
If your botherd about mpg and petrol prices engine tuning isent for you.

i know it is thirsty but never expect it to be that bad
#21: Re: mpg on throttle bodies Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Fri Jun 22, 2012 3:35 pm ---- lol thanks for that i get just 300 with diving round town heavy footed atm with a few blasts
im sure i can manage with 250 but dont you have bigger injectors etc i will only have the tbs with my current mods, or would this be the same in fuel

it won't run on std injectors
it will be way too lean
and i think the kit come with injectors too
#23: Re: mpg on throttle bodies Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Fri Jun 22, 2012 3:44 pm ---- kam racing dont list the injectors just that you get a fuel rail in the kit, mac also didnt mention injectors so assume you didnt need them
the mpg will seam bad to a deisel owner lol, my boss had a modeo st220 which on normal driving would only do 22mpg 28 on motorway being steady
#24: Re: mpg on throttle bodies Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Fri Jun 22, 2012 3:51 pm ---- He's only got v.mild cams seabook so standard injectors would be fine.... I think. I knoticed a drop in mpg straight away. as when I left my car with pug1off all I had dine to it was a k&n panel filter and a cat back Powerflow exhaust it came out with a race spec engine+a few extras i lived at the petrol station for the 1st cupple Of months as I was driving around every were then I started to find the balance when you 1st fill up you can drive it hard for the 1st half as it don't last v.long then just Eco drive for the last half lol, in the winter when it was freezing I was lucky to get 200 to a tank. On the way to fcs I did 150 round trip on half a tank but I was doing 60most of the way.
#25: Re: mpg on throttle bodies Author: Seabook, Posted: Fri Jun 22, 2012 4:07 pm ---- hmm....
i am surprise you can use standard injectors after ITB mod.
