180 Front Seats
-> 206 Problems

#1: 180 Front Seats Author: MattyP, Location: Plymouth PostPosted: Fri Feb 17, 2012 7:39 am
    ----
Just spent the last 3.5hrs trying to fit my recently purchased 180 interior and have problems with the passenger seat, I have managed to fit and with all but 1 bolt tightened them up due to the location of the 4th bolt.

At first the seat was able to move forward and back fully but now the seat will only move back a little and won't allow me to pull on the lever and move the chair to where it gives you room to sit in the front, I have noticed that there is a bolt missing from the lever on the side of the chair which controls the tilting position.

Also I am having problems getting to the last bolt on the old drivers seat so I can remove it and fit the 180 drivers seat, it's the bolt at the front of the chair nearest the centre console, anyone had the same problem and know a solution? None of the tools I have allow any access to the bolt

1st one sounds like the old clip from the rail has snapped off under the seat rail *ie between where it slides* which is causing it to catch and no pass that point, i had this on one seat, just take the seat out, seperate the rails on the outside 1st cause its on that side. the see if anything falls out.

Are you using the rails from the GTi 180 or from your own car? The GTi 180 rails are notorious for jamming and the previous post sounds correct as that's where I had the problem with mine.

If it isn't that, check the height adjustment handle link as that sometimes sticks into place and stops the rail clamps from disengaging when you try and pull the forward/ backward stalk.

There is a small silver metal clip in the runners that bites down in the runners to lock the chair into position.

This is your problem it's stopped the seat moving

thanks for all the above advice guys, just been out to have another go and managed to move the seat right back, just lifted it slightly while trying to pull on the lever and move the chair back.

Im using the 180 runners which still have the airbag wiring underneath, have managed to get some help tomorrow from rttam to fit the drivers seat so by the end of tomorrow they should all be fitted
