206 GTi Front End banging/Knocking
-> 206 Problems

#1: 206 GTi Front End banging/Knocking Author: Linkpad, Location: Wales PostPosted: Mon Feb 20, 2012 4:07 am

H, Recently my 206 is making a front end banging knocking sound when going over bumpy surfaces. It sounds like its something suspension related. Also the outers of my tyres are wearing excessivley at the front. Plus when i turn my wheel on full lock i can hear a knock and feel slight play.

Is this a serious problem causing all these ? As i have MOT on it soon ... Question

Try searching, this will have been posted many times before so you can get a pretty good answer before you have to post yourself.

It will be difficult to diagnose exactly what is causing the noise as there are so many parts under there that can make knocking noises (Track Rod Ends, Wishbones, Anti Roll Bars, Ball Joints)

Tires wearing, you are either towing in or towing out (I can't remember which one wears the outer edge!) so you will need your tracking doing.

MOT wise, depending on how bad the knocking is and where you go. It may pass with these items as Advisories, or it may Fail.
If you haven't had the car long, look on the MOT info site, then you can see if last year it got any Advisories on worn parts from the front end.

They are not serious problems, they are just wear and tear parts that need replacing every now and then.

Mines the same, doesn't fail an MOT. It's top mount or drop link Ive heard, can't remember which one it is, need to get my knock sorted, please let me know if you find the problem, thanks mate.
