#1: Small preview after cat removal Author: Slowride, Location: Netherlands/near RotterdamPosted: Mon Feb 20, 2012 7:18 am ---- Last weekend I removed the cat of my RC and fitted a 'straight'pipe. Here's a small video on youtube what do you think
#2: Re: Small preview after cat removal Author: furryhobnob, Location: NuneatonPosted: Mon Feb 20, 2012 7:21 am ---- It sounds good, does the car feel more responsive without the cat?
#3: Re: Small preview after cat removal Author: iainlovatt, Posted: Mon Feb 20, 2012 7:25 am ---- sounds really nice!
#4: Re: Small preview after cat removal Author: DJ-, Location: UKPosted: Mon Feb 20, 2012 7:33 am ---- Sounds mint. Love the little popping at the end!
#5: Re: Small preview after cat removal Author: rick-gti, Location: welshpool, mid walesPosted: Mon Feb 20, 2012 8:35 am ---- I had a straight through pipe that sounded abit similar on my gti 140, sounds nice. notice any difference? my gti is the first car ive owned with a cat. Have allways fitted de-cat pipes to both my 306 gti6's noticed abit of a difference mid range and was abit better on fuel.

Do you have your backbox vertically or horizontally mounted and is it oval box or round box. Mine pops just like yours except my exhaust is more quiet

#9: Re: Small preview after cat removal Author: Slowride, Location: Netherlands/near RotterdamPosted: Mon Feb 20, 2012 10:33 am ---- @Icetto: it's from manifold to tailpipe's almost a straight line. Not like origenal were the backbox is fitted in place of a spare wheel. I've fitted a JanSpeed and yes it is pretty loud now
@Kingdom200: I personaly think a cat is still an restriction so there is some improvement possible. There are so many theories and visions about this. When you measure before and after you now the gains or improvement, thats all I say

#12: Re: Small preview after cat removal Author: Icetto, Location: Cape TownPosted: Mon Feb 20, 2012 12:33 pm ---- And what is the size of the exhaust? 57mm/63mm or 57mm into 63mm?
#13: Re: Small preview after cat removal Author: Slowride, Location: Netherlands/near RotterdamPosted: Tue Feb 21, 2012 1:34 am ---- The JanSpeed is 62mm. what I've read, the decat was an origenal cat wich cut'd between and replaced for a tube. Looks similair to your solution.
#14: Re: Small preview after cat removal Author: Shortstuff, Location: GloucesterPosted: Sat Feb 25, 2012 3:22 am ---- I read many threads on here highly recommending not to decat.
I decatted my 106, i loved it, it was bloody loud and droned alot but was epic.
Yours sounds awesome, what is it like inside the cockpit? is it easy to swap for mot?
